![]() ![]() If you don't mind traveling to the north side on the Red Line, then you could go to a number of places: Ann Sathers (several locations in different areas, their specialty is cinnamon rolls). Great space and very good, reasonably-priced (for Chicago) food. If you are near or going to the Museum Campus, you could eat at Yolk on S. Some other "usual suspects" around town are Corner Bakeries (there is even one right inside the Field Museum), Au Bon Pain, and Potbelly's (local chain although I still think the original location of the last is the best). You could also get some appetizer platters and share (for example, the BBQ ribs at just under $10 are very good, IMHO). And I do highly recommend the gumbo - very tasty and quite filling. I also think that you can just *maybe* squeak by on your budget at Heaven on Seaven, but it will be difficult unless you get just a bowl of gumbo and a jalapeno cheddar corn muffin or the something like that. For example, if you are going to the Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder is 2 blocks away (although this is not the traditional Chicago-style pizza). There are other (and, IMHO, better) places to consider - just take a look at what's nearby the attractions you will see. The usual suspects have been named, but I do have some other suggestions.īut, before I begin, while I agree that you might consider pizza for your party, I'm not a fan at all of Lou Malnati's. Fairly tough to do in a city with big rents and taxes. That means you have to find an entree priced at around $9 or less. The tip will run you at least $2 and you need to be careful that you aren't going to a place that will levy a much higher automatic tip (18-20%), since you have seven in your party. You can pretty much figure that the drink portion will be $2-3, unless you get only tap water. Hummingbird, the problem with finding a meal under $15 pp (and I'm assuming that you mean the *entire* meal, not just the entree) at a sit-down, non-fast-food restaurant is this in a nutshell: drink, tax & tip. ![]()
